ANIC supports the Palestinian People’s Right for Self determination & Opposes the Unjust and Unlawful Occupation of them

The Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) supports the Palestinian people’s right for self determination and opposes the unjust and unlawful occupation of them. Gaza has been under a land, air and sea blockade for 16 years – also known as the world’s “largest open air prison”.

The Israeli forces continue to kill and injure thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians within the Gaza Strip and apply their standard collective punishment approach.

The Palestinian people have lived under apartheid and occupation for the past 75 years. The international community has failed them. Instead, there has been a one-sided and double standard support of Israel with no regard for the lives, safety and suffering of the Palestinian people.

ANIC calls on the international community and the Australian government to demand a cessation of the Israeli offensive on Gaza and end the siege on Gaza. It also calls on the Australian Government to acknowledge the plight and suffering of the Palestinians and the recognition of the State of Palestine. It should avoid one-sided statements of support which ignore the Palestinian people.
