The Australian National Imams Council condemns Israel’s recent bombing in Doha. This brazen assault represents a complete disregard for international law and universally recognised ethical standards.
By striking within the sovereign territory of Qatar, Israel has violated the sanctity of a nation that has consistently acted as a mediator in pursuit of peace. This is not a one-off incident but part of a clear pattern of behaviour in which Israel demonstrates no genuine regard for peace, despite its officials claiming otherwise. Through such actions, Israel continues to operate as though it were a state above the law.
What makes this bombing and attack especially abhorrent is that the targets were a delegation gathered to discuss possible peaceful ends to this war. The delegation was organised by the U.S and the Israelis themselves, yet it was bombed without regard for even their own allies. This bombing absolutely shatters the recycled and hollow narrative reinforced by mainstream media and Israeli propagandists, that Israel is genuinely interested in a diplomatic resolution to end the war.
Instead, Israel stubbornly pursues their ruthless agenda to prolong this war and genocide and the human suffering it inflicts for as long as possible. At moments where peace was possible, Israel’s actions and policies have made it unmistakably clear that it is simply not interested. Israel has consistently demonstrated that they cannot be reasoned with on diplomatic terms, for it is not the reasonable actor and victim that its apologists and propagandists insist it to be.
It is also noted that this recent attack endangered countless civilians, since Israel struck a densely populated residential area of Doha, where mosques, schools, and recreation centres surround the strike zone.
The International Community cannot allow Israel to continue acting as the belligerent, domineering bully of the Middle East. If Israel’s relentless disregard for international law is not confronted with decisive action, the entire Middle East risks being dragged into deeper turmoil and dangerous instability.
ANIC stands in full solidarity with the State of Qatar and its people, who have been directly targeted and harmed by this unlawful act of aggression and blatant violation of state sovereignty. Qatar has been a steadfast advocate for peace, tirelessly calling for an end to the war and defending the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people.
