The Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) has formally submitted its submission to the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion.
The submission highlights the importance of addressing all forms of hatred, discrimination, and extremism in a fair, balanced, and consistent manner to strengthen social harmony and community trust across Australia.
ANIC’s submission focuses on the growing impact of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred, concerns surrounding social division and marginalisation, particularly among young Australians, and the need for responsible public discourse, stronger protections against religious vilification, and greater community engagement.
The submission also outlines the positive contributions of Muslim Australians across all sectors of society, including healthcare, education, humanitarian aid, business, youth development, community services, and interfaith engagement.
ANIC reaffirms its commitment to working constructively with government, faith leaders, civil society, and the broader Australian community to promote mutual respect, fairness, and social harmony.
Social cohesion can only be strengthened when all Australians, regardless of faith or background, feel respected, protected, heard, and included.
